Animal Care And Control Offers Low-Cost Rabies Vaccination Clinic

Palm Beach County Public Safety Department Division of Animal Care and Control is offering low-cost rabies vaccinations and tags to pets in the Pahokee and Belle Glade areas. The location is Foodland Grocery at 530 S. Main Street in Belle Glade Saturday, November 22 from 2:00-5:00 p.m.

The Spay Shuttle, a mobile spay and neuter veterinary clinic, will be available to provide educational material and answer questions about rabies and pet sterilization. The cost of the rabies vaccination and tag during this time only is $10 for sterilized or non-sterilized dogs and cats. A rabies vaccination and tag is required by law for pets four months or older. All puppies and kittens less than four months are required by law to wear a juvenile rabies license tag.

For more information, call (561) 924-5656 or check the shelter Web site at www.pbcgov.com/pubsafety/animal.

pet owners forging rabies certificates

Postby malernee » Sat Nov 06, 2004 8:52 am

JAVMA NewsNovember 15, 2004 Practitioners should be
on guard against forged rabies certificates
The AVMA is alerting its members to reports of pet owners forging rabies
certificates to procure licenses and tags.
People who believe vaccinations hurt their pets are allegedly using the
names and license numbers of veterinarians obtained from Web sites
published by state licensing boards, along with vaccine lot numbers to
forge the documents. Practitioners are encouraged to report suspicious
rabies certificates to the appropriate authorities. The AVMA Council on
Public Health and Regulatory Veterinary Medicine examined this issue at
a recent meeting and expressed concern because of the potentially
serious public health risks created by false information of rabies
vaccination status.
The rabies vaccination status affects decisions regarding management of
animals after they are exposed to rabid animals. The rabies vaccination
status could also affect treatment decisions for humans bitten by
animals falsely identified as being currently vaccinated. Return to

Subject: Discount Coupon for Rabies Shot, Tag & Chip

Animal Care and Control (ACC) was recently invited to participate in the 'Walk for the Animals' sponsored by the Peggy Adam's Animal Rescue League (ARL). ACC will have a booth set up to distribute coupons for reduced fees on the rabies vaccination, license tag and microchip at ARL's event. It will be Saturday, February 14, 2009, from 7-11:30 am at John Prince Park Corporate Center Pavilion, main entrance off Congress Avenue in Lake Worth. Coupons will only be distributed from the event location and during this time only. This is not a rabies clinic.

The coupon will be good only at ACC from Sunday, February 15 through Sunday, March 1 and the pet owner must present the coupon to receive the discount fee. The cost is $25 per animal, sterilized or non-sterilized. If the animal already has a microchip, and only needs a rabies shot and tag, the cost will be $20.

If you have questions, please contact me. Just to clarify, the website states the time is from 8-11 and will be changed to 7-11:30 as soon as possible.
